What is the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)?
The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of employees in the Federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations local, national and international.
What is the CFC mission?
To support and promote philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
Why have a CFC?
The annual fundraising campaign helps to support a variety of health, human, and other services provided by more than 2,000 charitable agencies. This single campaign is the most cost-efficient fundraising method. It succeeds because volunteers from the Federal workforce combine their resources for one coordinated appeal.
Who decides how to spend my donations?
You! You designate your dollars to meet your interests. You may pick a single organization - or up to 5 organizations- and a distribution your contribution among them in any way you like.
How efficient is Orange-San Bernardino Counties CFC?
In 2008, campaign efficiency resulted in 92 cents of every dollar collected being distributed to aid health, human and welfare needs. This efficiency is achieved through volunteer involvement and the consolidated fundraising concept.
How do I get help from a CFC non-profit participating agency?
Federal employees and their families can contact any non-profit participating CFC agency directly, by using the telephone number listed in the contributor brochure. These services are available to anyone who needs them.
What is the benefit of payroll deduction?
Through payroll deduction, the amount you specify is withheld each payday throughout the year (January – December). Automatic payroll deduction is the most painless and convenient method of giving, however cash and check gifts are accepted. Payroll deductions for the 2009/2010 campaign will begin with 2010 pay period 3.
Will I be recognized for personal giving?
Yes! This year, 3 different donor recognition items will be given, based on the amount you contribute. Please refer to the campaign tab, or see the 2009 O-SBC CFC Charity List (formerly the Contributor Brochure) for more information.
What is the CFC Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC)?
Federal Agency Directors and Commanding Officers in the Orange and San Bernardino Counties area serve on the Orange-San Bernardino Counties CFC Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC), which approve and oversee all functions of the campaign. How do I know the charities participating in the CFC are legitimate?
The LFCC reviews annual applications from local federations, member organizations and local charities for inclusion to the Orange-San Bernardino Counties CFC. Each local charitable organization must meet specific requirements, as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 950: Organizations that appear on the national and international lists were reviewed by Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in Washington.
When is the CFC campaign?
Each year in the fall, the campaign is conducted for a six-week period during the months of September through December.
What are some ways that Federal agencies support the CFC?
Orange-San Bernardino Counties Federal agencies appoint a volunteer to serve as CFC Coordinator to lead the CFC effort at their agency. The Coordinator recruits a Campaign Committee including Key workers to help implement campaign plans. Many Federal agencies also provide the CFC with Loaned Executives (Federal employees on detail) to work with other agencies in planning and operating their campaigns. These volunteers work hard to make events like Kick-Offs, employee meetings, agency tours and special CFC communications succeed.
